Our Work
The Myaamia Project at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, is one of the major beneficiaries of the fundraising work of the Myaamia Foundation. The research and educational goals of the Project provide guidance and focus for the charitable work of our Foundation.
The Project’s on-going goals are defined by the cultural needs and direction of the Miamis. The following are their research and educational goals:
- The publication of Miami language and cultural education materials.
- The acquisition and conservation of documents and artifacts related to Miami culture.
- The documentation and traditional use of the physical environment, including its flora.
- The identification and mapping of traditional Miami homelands in the mid-west.
- The exploration and the use of technology for the development and transmission of language and culture.
- The creation of computer based interactive educational programs in Miami language and culture.
